| Gabriel Deschamps |
|
| is best known for his landscape painting. His subject was
often the South of France and his style is extraordinarily fresh, conveying
strong light or perhaps a particular note of sunshine. He was born in 1919 and
studied at the "Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts" in Paris. From 1939
he was a State Art Professor and a member of the Paris Autumn Salon. Deschamps
held one-man exhibitions in Paris, Algiers, Oran and Casablanca, and his works
are represented in important private collections in Switzerland, Belgium,
Brazil, USA and Argentina. One of his paintings has also been acquired by the
Casablanca Art Gallery. |
