Jules.R.Herve
Jules Rene Herve was born in Paris in 1887 and died in 1981.His work was given recognition as early in the century as 1914 when,at the age of twenty-seven,he was awarded the Medaille d'Argent at the Salon des Artistes Francais, where he exhibited regularly.Numerous awards, honours and distinctions followed throughout his life through regular exhibitions at the various Paris Salons.Jules was an artist who enjoyed working alone, painting subjects of his own choice, oblivious to publicity and other artistic pressures. His palette was always distinctive with its shimmering colours, applied in small light touches, reminiscent of the great Impressionists. He will be remembered for his charming paintings of Parisian life, featuring the children and characters of the Belle Epoque.
